National Award-Winning Studio & Winner of Design Firm of the Year is actively seeking a Project Manager/Project Architect to join their Berkeley or Sacramento office. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
As a Project Manager / Project Architect, you will be responsible for design thinking and implementation supporting Higher Education projects throughout California (and beyond). Multiple opportunities to collaborate with the entire HiEd team on a variety of project types – and pursuits. You will work directly with Principals and Partners across the firm and help in growing our Higher Education practice on the West Coast.
- Participate in all project phases, focusing on programming, planning, document development, and construction administration.
- Manage client relationships and project deliveries from the initial design phase to project completion with a focus on exceptional customer service.
- Collaborate with the design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies, and other vendors to meet overall project objectives.
- Produce BIM models and construction drawings; oversee the creation and maintenance of the project manual and specifications with our in-house spec writing team.
- Resolve challenging technical and design issues with the team to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions.
- Actively lead smaller projects or co-lead a team on larger projects for successful delivery.
- Co-manage construction meetings, team communication, and consultant coordination.
- Identify and propose technical solutions to design challenges and provide technical feedback in the conceptual development of project documents.
- Produce accurate documents aligned with firm standards, building codes, and accessibility requirements for project assignments.
- Develop key elements of project management and business: scope, fee, schedule, work plans, and budgets.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
- 7-10 years of experience in all phases of architectural projects; higher education project type is highly preferred, and a demonstrated passion for design thinking.
- Architect license or on the path to licensure. CA license preferred.
- High proficiency in Revit, CAD, Bluebeam. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred proficiency in Adobe Create Suite, Lumion, and Twin Motions.
- Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines, with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to interact with senior management, external client organizations, and vendors by being an effective communicator, collaborative, and promoting a team mentality.
- Experience with Division of State Architect. Office of State Fire Marshal preferred.
- Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development.
- Mentor and provide direction to individual team members.
- The ability to travel occasionally to support project tasks and meetings and conferences.
- LEED accreditation is a plus, with an interest in sustainable design thinking.
